Release of the Tourismusanalyse 2011

"The world travel champion Germany returns - the crisis is over!", that was the statement of the BAT-Stiftung für Zukunftsfragen, an initiative of British American Tobacco, to the end of 2010. Now the release of the Tourismusanalyse 2011 shows, that the German travel activity has rosen up to 52% compared to 2010. Read more here.

Release of the ADAC Reisemonitor 2011

The ADAC Reisemonitor research 2011 presents its travel market trends for Germany including a representative of 17.3 million ADAC memerbs and the data basis of the GfK surveys. Since 1995 the ADAC publishes data reflecting the holiday-taking behaviour and travel habits of German tourists. For the travel year 2011 holiday plans will be steady. At least 65% of Germans will take one extended holiday trip in 2011. Read more here.

Release of the FUR Reiseanalyse 2011

The FUR survey 2011 presents new results concerning the German travel market in 2010 with a forecast and plans for 2011. The crisis for the tourism market is over and Germans start opimistically in the travel year 2011. Release of the German business climate index for February

Today's release of the February Ifo survey results surprised yet again on the upside and confirm this morning's stronger-than-expected "flash" manufacturing survey results for February. The composite business climate index rose to 111.2 (consensus and BarCap: 110.2), up slightly from 110.3 in January, thereby printing yet another cycle high. Read more here.

Market trends: strong travel sales in January

German holiday bookings were 23.3% higher last month than in January 2010 and as much as 14.8% above the previous record for a January which was set in 2008. Summer sales, which accounted for 71% of total bookings last month, were 25.5% higher than 12 months previously, according to the organisation’s latest monthly representative survey of 1,200 German travel agencies. Latest GfK analysis of travel bookings in Germany

The political unrest in North Africa has had far-reaching consequences for the tourism industry. According to GfK Retail and Technology, the majority of German holidaymakers have postponed any planned trips to Egypt and Tunisia and demand for the summer months also noticeably declined in the first few weeks of the year. Sales generated by travel agents for vacations to Egypt dropped from EUR 28 million in the second week of January to minus EUR 11 million at the end of the fifth calendar week at the beginning of February. Realese of UNWTO World Tourism Barometer 2011

International tourism recovered strongly in 2010 from the blow it suffered due to the global financial crisis and economic recession. International tourist arrivals were up by almost 7% to 935 million, following the exeptional 4% decline in 2009. However, recovery came at different speeds and was primarily driven by emerging economies. Read more here.

Realese of fvw dossier: German tour operators 2010

The German tour operator market returned to growth this year after the downturn in 2009. But not all companies are seeing success again, according to the results of this year’s fvw survey of the tour operator market.
The Germans remain the world’s travel champions. After a slight 2.2% decline in the crisis year of 2008/09, the country’s tour operator market is back on the growth path. Read more here.

Release of the consumer index for Western and Northern Europe Q3 2010

Despite tough economic times following the recent recession, the Personal Care and Fresh Food categories have grown across the majority of Western European countries this quarter. Austria, France, Great Britain and Ireland have seen healthy performance this quarter comparedwith the same period last year. In contrast, The Netherlands has experienced decline across a large number of categories. Read more here.

Realese of fvw dossier: German travel agencies 2009

German travel agents suffered a heavy drop in revenues last year, the annual fvw dossier on market development showed. But online sales again grew fast.
Overall agency revenues dropped 12.1% to €19.3 billion, according to the in-depth survey of 23 leading organisations. Sales of holidays/private travel declined by 6.3% to €13.4 billion while business travel sales slumped 22.7% to €5.8 billion. The number of full-time travel agencies in Germany declined by 329 sites to 10,717 outlets, the dossier revealed. Read more here.
