The fvw Counter Trophy is an innovative format for the promotion of destinations with travel agencies.
Over a period of six weeks travel agents participate in a competition testing basic knowledge on your destination, its attractions and unique advantages.
Questionnaires have to be completed on the website fvw-Counter-Trophy.de , thus improving knowledge about your destination and selecting the best agencies. In the next phase of the fvw Counter Trophy the top 20 travel agencies visit your destination and compete in a destination treasure hunt for the "Counter-Trophy". The fvw Counter Trophy is supported by extensive editorial coverage in fvw's "Counter"- section including reports, promotions, timetables, scores and rewards. The fvw Counter Trophy is fun, promotion and destination marketing alike.

Contest Details
fvw and either a local, regional or national tourism office join up to find Germany’s top team of travel agents, whether home-based, agency, online or otherwise. Over a period of two months participants need to demonstrate destination knowledge as well as commitment to service and team spirit.Concept Details
- The contest starts off with three rounds of trivia, each consisting of a set of ten questions, which are published in the fvw magazine and on www.fvw-counter-trophy.de. All answers need to be submitted online.
- Scores are not only tallied at the very end but also after each round of trivia, including an award for the best team per round.
- Upon completion of the trivia, the 10 or 20 top teams travel to the host destination for a final contest.
Partnership Opportunities
Apart from the tourism office representing the head sponsor, other tourism-related companies such as regional tourism organizations, tour operators, airlines, hotels or car rental companies are offered the opportunity to partake in the contest as co-sponsors.Timing
Phase 1: The fvw magazine announces contest rules, schedule, prizes, and online registration details including display of sponsors’ logos in two back-to-back issues. The feature destination is presented on www.fvw-counter-trophy.de along with links to sponsoring partners’ websites. fvw.de links to the contest website as well.
Phase 2: Three rounds of trivia including sponsors’ logos are published in three issues of the fvw magazine, each featuring a questionnaire, brief destination promotion, announcement of next round, presentation of prizes for the individual contest stages and the winners of the previous stage. All contest communication is conducted through the event’s official website www.fvw-counter-trophy.de .
Phase 3: Announcement of contestants traveling to the host destination for the final round. Subsequent editorial coverage in fvw “Counter” section through a six-page lead-in story. Coverage on www.fvw-counter-trophy.de. The award ceremony takes place during a trade event such as ITB or fvw Kongress.
